Jord Watches Review – My Mother's Day Treat!

08 May

The best thing about Mother's Day for me is not only do I get to celebrate and honor my amazing mother and shower her with flowers, cards, balloons, and a gift {three outfits this year! YAY!} but also get to celebrate being a mom!  The job isn't easy but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.  I have been blessed with great children and a perfect husband who makes sure to show me that I am appreciated – not only on Mother's Day, but everyday.  And I always joke that I am spoiled all year but more spoiled than a rotten apple on Mother's Day.  {....and my birthday too, but that's another story, LOL!}

When I was given the opportunity to review this gorgeous wood watch by JORD Watches I was so excited! And I was even more ecstatic when I found out it would be here in time for me to rock on Mother's Day.

I headed straight to the website and was completely blown away by these gorgeous works of art! Each one was more gorgeous than the next.  I am a big fan of being unique and rocking things that are outside of the box and knew I HAD to have a wood watch.  It's such a special piece. The dial, the case, the band... it's all made of wood.  I thought it would be heavy but it's really lightweight and fits perfectly snug on my wrist – which is just how I like my watches to fit. :)

If you know me, you know I have been obsessed with rose gold lately ...OBSESSED! So selecting this gorgeous rose gold beauty was a no-brainer. LOL!

....and it goes perfectly well with my rose gold Tory Burch Reva Flats. WIN!

I am completely in love!  Browse the complete collection of wooden watches, here, if you'd like.  I am dying to get my hands on the Zebrawood and Turquoise beauty!

I hope you all enjoy your Mother's Day and / or enjoy celebrating a mother in your life.

P.S. Follow me on Instagram for my Mother's Day shenanigans. It's going to be a beautiful weekend!

Autumn Layering with Adea!

27 October

{I had the pleasure of reviewing this luxurious layering top from Adea.  Their tagline is 'Everyday Luxury' which they pretty much nailed – this is a basic everyday layering top but adds a touch of luxe, which I can appreciate.  I chose the long sleeve crew neck in the color "buttercream".  I will be wearing this a ton in the upcoming cooler months.  Made of Italian microfiber, it fits the body like a glove and will be good for wearing under my jackets/sweaters, since I am known to dress inappropriately light in the winter. I call it my wintertime denial. Lol!}

{I rocked it with an open ivory cardigan from Target, which I have been wearing a LOT lately. Also, can I please take a moment to acknowledge my gratitude for jean jacket + chunky scarf weather? It's my second favorite time of year!  After my beloved summers, of course.}

60's Sheath

06 September

{60's Printed Shift Dress ~ c/o Simply Be / Fuchsia Suede Pumps ~ Nine West / Teal Wooden Dangle Earrings ~ Vintage}

The minute I got the new Simply Be catalog in the mail, I was creating a wish list in my head. LOL!  It was so hard narrowing down my super long list to just one item that I wanted to review from the fall collection.  I chose this gorgeous 60's Printed Shift Dress because of the print and vibrant fall colors.  By the end of the day today, I knew I had made the right decision.  Not only did I feel perfectly fancy in it, I got tons of compliments and it was so comfortable to wear.  I just love sheath / shift dresses.  The silhouette is really simple but so pretty and lady-like.

Simply Be {US and UK both carry the same items} has such an amazing selection of cuteness for sizes -10-28, I am never disappointed.  I just ordered this fab little number for our cruise next month. :)

Are you a fan of the sheath dress?

Giveaway: Scout by Bungalow: Uptown Girl Tote!

09 August

I have a cute little giveaway to share, being brought to you by Scout by Bungalow

How adorable is this bag? It's the "Uptown Girl" in the Racey Lacey print.  It is also available in another cute print - The Hills.  I was so excited to receive this bag!  It is just what I needed to just grab and go last night after coming home from work, changing into something comfy {leggings, a tee and flip flops!} and running to the grocery store, CVS, picking Cory up from practice and going out for water ice after dinner.

I love that it's a water-resistant, poly-woven fabric and can be wiped clean.  This will last a long time and will see many parks, picnics and beaches.  I even let Isis take it to summer camp today to house her towel for swimming, a change of clothes, snacks and her book. :)

This will also be a work bag for me... my lunches are quite the production so I need something that's roomy and easy to carry.

Enter below to win* an "Uptown Girl" in the pattern of your choice. YAY! :)

Misikko Review + Hair Ramblings

11 January

When I was contacted by Misikko to review one of their styling products, I browsed the site and was immediately intrigued by the top10 best flat irons list.  I was also wanting to do another hair post soon anyway, so this review was the perfect opportunity to ramble about my hair. :)

Now being honest, I am not a huge fan of flat irons as I do not like BONE straight hair.  I like a bit of texture to my hair, especially when wearing weave – I think it looks so much more natural.

My normal routine is to let my hair air dry {mostly} after washing it then finish with a warm blow dryer.  I then use a Hot Tools 1.5 inch curling iron to straighten and wave/curl my hair.  I figured I could use the flat irons to straighten and smooth the hair – then use the curling iron to style it.  Well, I have been using the Hana Titanium 1.5 flat irons since getting them a week and a half ago – to straighten and style, and I love them!

The shipping on these was really fast, which a definite plus, in my book.  In the box with the flat irons was also: a brush, a rubber mat to lay the irons on while they are heating to protect your surface, a cute case to store them in, a towel-hood to wrap and dry your hair after washing, a small bottle of "shine shield", which is a leave in treatment {that I did not use}, an ELF lip gloss {which is pretty good} and an ELF shimmering cream {did not use}.

A few points about my hair:

♥ The weave that I have in is raw Brazilian virgin wavy hair, in 16 inches. I dyed it jet black on Saturday night {and I love it!}

♥ I use DOVE Intensive Repair shampoo and conditioner {I wash it with shampoo every other week and co-wash – using conditioner ONLY – every week.} This is the most amazing shampoo and conditioner, I HIGHLY recommend it.

♥ I did not put any other products in my hair. And I hardly ever do; I like to keep my hair clean and product-free. I am so obsessed with fresh fluffiness. No oils or serum.  If I am curling it, I will lightly spritz it to hold the curls a little better.  If I use the foam rollers at night to sleep in, I don’t use anything at all.

♥ To preserve the body and shine, I wrap my hair at night in a beehive and tie it tight, using a CLEAN scarf.

{AFTER {with absolutely no product!}}

Here are my final thoughts on the Hana Titanium Ionic Flat Irons:

♥ The packaging of this product was absolutely adorable!  I am a pretty-packaging lunatic.  I love when something arrives and is perfectly put together.  It makes a huge difference in the experience, in my opinion.

♥ I have always heard that the Chi hair straighteners get hot but these flat irons get really really HOT, really really fast.  They go up to 450, but I only had them set to 400.  The heat-up speed is really important to me, I loved plugging them in and being able to begin to style my hair almost instantly. Using these gave my hair a beautiful shine and great body - that I don’t think I would have gotten with the curling iron.

♥ Flattening and smoothing my hair was insanely effortless.  I have been excited to plug in and use these every morning {I do need to get a little better at bending at the right angle though when I want to wave/curl my hair with them.}

Overall, they are really good flat irons and I think whoever gets them would be completely satisfied. If I had to have a con, it would probably be the price. At $175, they are expensive and may be out of a reasonable price range.  BUT, I do believe in splurging every once in a while on something that I know I will have forever, so these would be worth it if I were considering buying some.  And the free shipping and $10 off "winter10 code" would lessen the blow a little.

So tell me, what are your heat styling tips and thoughts on using a good flat iron?

xoxo, thanks for reading!
