{Black Skinny Pants ~ Torrid / Geometric Print Tunic ~ French Connection via Nordstrom Rack / Red Leather Obi Belt ~ Thrifted / Black Pointed Toe Patent Pumps ~ Nine West}

Where does the time go? Seriously!  I can't believe it's almost 11:30 already.  I still have so many things left on my to-do list that just won't get done tonight.  A to-do list that is never ending lately: we are gearing up for back-to-school around here and it's exciting to think about the new routine and schedules that will come along with school being back in session.  A new routine that will involve me having to be up an hour earlier than usual, every weekday.  Maybe then I can start dinner in the morning before work... or have some extra time getting ready so that I am not rushing around to my train like a crazy person... or make my bed in the morning like I used to.  I think this will be the beginning of me becoming a "morning person".  Let's hope! :)

I have to remember to wear these pumps more often, they are so comfy and I have been loving a pointy toe lately {and they happen to be a hot shoe trend for fall!}.  These will get a lot of wear this season ... I need to also find a pointy toe taupe or burgundy pump...with a moderate heel OR wedge.  Yes!

{In LOVE!} Wet N Wild MegaLast Lip Color

August 23, 2012

I am currently OBSESSED with these amazing Wet N Wild MegaLast lipsticks.  I know these have been reviewed and raved about via many beauty blogs / YouTube channels but I thought I'd add my 2 cents here. :)
I love that they live up to their name and last a pretty long time.  After about 6 hours, the color was still in place {think lip stain} and my lips were still soft {I hate how some long-wearing lipsticks can be drying}.  The color is pretty matte, which I love and they are pigmented quite nicely {a few swipes and your are done!}
I adore every shade in my growing collection and would wear any of them for any occasion. Ravin' Raisin and Wine Room are my absolute faves! :)
{965 ~ Cherry Picking}
{916D ~ Ravin' Raisin}
{966 ~ Don't Blink Pink}
{906D ~ Wine Room}
{908C ~ Plum Fairy}
{905D ~ Smokin' Pink}
{919B ~ Vamp It Up}
The best part about these: they are $1.99 each! Can't beat it!
Have you tried these? What's your favorite color?

Bleached Jeggings

August 21, 2012

{Striped Bleached Skinnies ~ DIY / Hot Pink Silk Tank ~ DKNY / White Tie Front Cardigan ~ Thrifted / Black Leather Wedges ~ Steve Madden / Magenta Crystal Ball Dangle Earrings ~ H&M}

These pants {to me} are a beautiful disaster.  I had the brilliant idea of creating bleached stripes onto my favorite pair of Asos jeggings {using masking tape and spraying on bleach to make the lines} and they didn't come out quite as I had planned.  The bleach bled through the tape, giving them a runny jagged-egde effect... and I kind of love them!

I have been really impulsive lately when it comes to cutting or bleaching or dying items in my closet.  I haven't regretted any of my creations yet, let's just hope this streak continues. Lol!

Have you hacked or bleached anything lately? If the answer is no, why not?! :)

P.S. Congrats to Tonyette for winning the Leopard Bow Tie from Good Wood NYC! Emailing you now!

Summer Silk

August 17, 2012

{Printed Silk Skirt {worn as a dress} ~ Thrifted / Black Silk Boyfriend Blazer ~ Thrifted / Patent Belt ~ Thrifted / Black and Gold Leather Flats ~ Tory Burch "Reva" / Black and Gold Leather Handbag ~ Daisy Boutique}

This entire silk outfit was thrifted {except for the accessories} and the total cost was around $10.00.  Gotta love that!  I haven't been thrifting in so long; I am finally going tomorrow morning after Zumba with my sister.  I am on the hunt for a jean jacket {to cut into a vest!} and more silk!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Whiskey Bourbon Honey Glazed Salmon

This recipe was a completely random idea that I am so glad I tried!  It was so good.  Making a tasty salmon recipe has been on my radar for so long and I couldn't let another weekend go by without having it for last Sunday's dinner.  I did a bit of improvising with what I had on hand and it all worked out beautifully.  It was simple, but declicious! Here's the recipe:

Fresh salmon {left whole or cut into filets before preparing}

For the Whisky Bourbon Honey Glaze:
1/2 cup Bourbon Whisky
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
2 tablespoons butter
3 green onions, finely chopped

{I have no idea why we even had this whiskey in our pantry but we did and I am glad. LOL! And let me tell you - this stuff is STRONG. 80 proof, sheesh! I was shocked at the smell of this when I opened the bottle, but when cooked it down and in the glaze, the flavor was unbelievable.}

{Gather the glaze ingredients!  Here is where the compromising came in.  I wanted to use Dijon mustard but only had yellow mustard.  I also wanted to use brown sugar but the box that was in the back of my pantry was really old so I had to use white.}

{To a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add your whiskey and glaze ingredients.}
{Let it simmer over medium-low heat for about 10-15 minutes.  It will get thick and reduce by half.}

{As that slowly simmers, start the fish.  Pat your salmon dry and season with salt and pepper.  If you have a roasting pan with a rack, it's good to use it here so that the skin gets crispy without having to flip the fish.  If you don't have one, a baking sheet will work just fine.  In a 425 degree pre-heated oven, roast the salmon for 15 minutes or so {6-7 minutes per side if you are using a baking sheet, flipping it once}, depending on the size of your fish.

{As your salmon roasts, your glaze will thicken nicely.}

{After it thickens and has been simmering for 10 minutes or so, whisk in your butter}

{Remove it from the heat.}

{When your salmon is just about done {but not too firm, you don't want it to dry out!} , start to brush on the bourbon glaze.}

{Coat it generously!}

{Return it to the oven, this time on BROIL for a few seconds.  Not very long, you don't want the glaze to burn or your fish to get dry.}

{Continue to glaze and watch the broiler.  Right before the last glaze {I repeated the glazing and returning to under the broiler for a few seconds about 4 times!}, sprinkle on your diced green onion.}

{Done. {my mouth is literllly watering, lol!} I can't explain how absolutely delicious this was - sweet and savory and perfectly cooked!}

{I served ours with a new version of my confetti salad {but minus the chicken and plus an extra avocado}.  My family RAVED about this recipe.  I think you will love it! :)

Let me know if you try it!

All Black & a Leopard Bow Tie {Giveaway!}

August 15, 2012

{Black Trousers ~ Torrid / Black Tee ~ Merona via Target / Chocolate Espadrille Wedges ~ Dolce Vita for Target / Wooden Leopard Bow tie ~ c/o Good Wood NYC}

One of the easiest outfits to wear in my opinion is an all-black one with cute and simple accessories.  ...and it gets no cuter than this adorable wooden leopard bow tie from Good Wood NYC

I think it is hilarious that I was totally sleeping on Good Wood NYC and didn't know much about the amazingly unique accessories that they offered, but Cory, my 12 year old, knew and has his own little wish-list full of funky wooden necklaces, like this one here.

Being a Leo and loving leopard anything, I was so excited to review and rock this little magnet-backed pin.  Just imagine this on a bright blazer! I can't wait to play around with wearing this more. :)  I am so very impressed with how impeccably made it is.

Good Wood NYC wants to give one of you a cute little leopard bow tie of your own. YAY!
