Day Off

April 25, 2012

I was so excited to pull this pretty tunic out again.  I bought it from SimplyBe {Plus Size Women's Clothing} back in January.  {See how I wore it here.} I utterly adore it.  I really need more simple and pretty tops like these.  You know, to wear when I am not wearing a blazer. ;)

 It was the perfect thing to pop on with leggings today {on my day off} as I ran errands to prepare for Isis's 9th birthday dinner that we enjoyed tonight.
 I was also excited to pull out these comfy oxfords.  Another pair of forgotten faves.

 Although they don't necessarily "go" with this tunic, I decided they provided the perfect pop! that I like to try and add to every outfit. :)

I also had these white beads on but decided to ditch them for these pictures.  Cory is such a good sport; not only is he my amazing photographer {who just so happened to have the day off with me}, but he also holds the extras while shooting. Hehe!

Navy / Green / Ivory

April 24, 2012

 I loved this color combination.  Green and navy blue together just works.

But then again, what doesn't work with navy blue?

This cardi was on sale at H&M for $10...so happy I didn't think twice about grabbing it.   I also snagged the cutest gold dress to pack for my girl's trip on Mother's Day weekend.

YESSSS! I leave for Miami in 2.5 weeks. :)

I've been kind of freaking out thinking of what to pack and trying not to go crazy buying unnecessarily new pieces to take.

I keep reminding myself that it's actually fun to shop my closet.  Though it seems like everything I see and love I "need for Miami". :)

Do you buy new things for vacay?  Or do you shop your closet and pack accordingly? *sigh* We are only staying for 3 nights, why am I making this a big deal? LOL!

Fancy!

I was chosen to partcipate in the Lands' End Plus Size Fashion "Show Us Your Style" by putting my twist on an item of my choice that I felt represented my personal style.  After browsing the selection of dresses / skirts, I knew immediately that I wanted to rock this skirt. So fun!

Fancy for no reason...that's how I felt in this outfit and of course I absolutely loved it! This linen skirt is an absolute GEM, it feels so good on.  It is made from a LOT of fabric which gives it so much movement / twirly-ness.  And it's lined. And it has pockets! And the bow in the back is absolutely adorable. :)

I could also see this skirt with some flats, t-shirt and a light-weight cardigan in the summer for a more casual look.  Or with a sequined tank, bright heels and a bright lip for an even fancier evening look.  The possibilities are endless - this is such a great basic, I LOVE IT!

Do you own a twirly skirt?

Tucked in!

Yes, I have thunder thighs and why yes, I am HIPPY.  And I have a tummy pooch that will probably ALWAYS be there. But I certainly rocked these trousers with my shirt tucked in and felt FAB!  :)
I am loving ponte pants but I have to consider the weather when I wear them.  They are pretty thick and I suppose could get reeeeaaallllllly HOT when it is warm? Not sure, and do I even care? LOL!

I hope you are having a great week! ♥

Too Easy

April 12, 2012

I went all of last year without this perfect denim shirt.

It was tucked away in an old beach bag that Cory found in the garage. I screamed so loud when he showed it to me!

I can't think of one thing that I couldn't wear it with. :)

  The shade of denim is so perfect, I can't wait to do an all-denim ensemble soon!

Easy Appetizer: White Bean Spread

April 10, 2012

I may be a bit obsessed with and making appetizers.  I love making simple and flavorful starters for dinner guests that can also double as snacks for unexpected company or a Saturday night with wine and a good movie.

This bean spread was super simple and really satisfying. My kind of dish! :)

{Gather these simple ingredients.  The cilantro is optional - I find that most people either love or hate it.  I happen to love it!}

{Start with melting 3 tablespoons of butter in a hot skillet.}

{Add half a medium onion, sliced.}

{Saute for about 7 minutes, or until brown and golden.  Season to taste with salt, pepper and garlic powder}

{Add your can of drained cannellini beans.}

{Mix well, reduce the heat and let these flavors meld while you prepare your crostini.}

{Slice a fresh French baguette into thin rounds.  My absolute fave.  I could probably eat an entire loaf.  Toasted with butter, of course!} :)

{Line your slices up and toast them until golden under the broiler.}

{Careful not to burn them, it only takes a couple of minutes for these to get golden.}

{Once they are brown, brush them with melted butter.}

{Warm and buttery. mmmmmm!}

{You will need a food processor or blender for this.  This one is my new favorite.  I love that it comes with smaller personal cups for making one smoothie at a time. I've also been making my own salad dressings for work lunch salads during the week.  So perfect!}

{Add your warm beans to the blender.  Also add in 1/4 cup of olive oil to start.  You may need more, depending on how your blender works.  You need enough oil to get the mixture going.  Taste for seasoning and blend until nice and smooth.}

{Serve it in a pretty dish and top the bean spread with chopped cilantro and a sprinkle of paprika.}

Grab a warm crostini, spread on your white bean goodness and enjoy!  ...with a glass of white or red wine... if you enjoy wine, that is.  White for me please. ;)

Preppy

April 9, 2012

 Here we are, Monday again. I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that I live for the weekends and despise Mondays. Today wasn't any different.  In fact, it was even harder getting up and out.  Cory was off today and all I wanted to do was stay in bed.

Thankfully, I had an outfit from last week  {rocked this last Wednesday} and one from this weekend to post because I just threw anything together this morning. Trousers, a striped tee, cardigan and not even a dab of makeup was put on today. ... outfit pics were not on the agenda.  You have days like that too, right? :)

 Maybe I'll post one of those looks here on the blog so that you can see that it isn't all pulled-together-ness around these parts.  Especially on Mondays. LOL!

Here's to an amazing Tuesday and an even better Wednesday. Have a great week!
