City Girl

March 30, 2011

{Sateen Skinny Pants ~ Torrid / Black and Ivory Spotted Top ~ Thrifted / Royal Blue Blazer ~ Thrifted / Black and Gold Leather Reva Flats ~ Tory Burch}

So, I am officially a CITY GIRL!  My office was relocated from the suburbs to smack-dab in the middle of Center City.  What that means for me: walking and more walking. To and from the train station; from home and to work. I knew flats were in order and my first thought: the ever stylishly fabulous Tory Burch flats. They are so buttery soft and comfortable.  Polished and fun at the same time. Of course, I am in love. ;)

I will still rock my heels on the days that I feel brave enough to manage the pain.  For some {strange} reason, I don't like the idea of wearing flats for the train ride and changing into heels at work {I know! LOL}.  I may just have to though.

I was so close to making my 15 post goal for this month, but it's not gonna happen. Between being super busy at work and the colder than average month we've had, I was unable to post as much as I wanted to. Oh well, there is always next month. :)

xoxo, thanks for reading!  ...and for your comments, I read them all and smile. You guys are the BEST! ♥

Black, White and Red All Over

March 28, 2011

{Black Pants ~ Torrid, one of about 10 pair that I own / Red Tunic ~ Torrid / Black and Ivory Striped Cardi ~ Forever 21+ / Black and Ivory T-Strap Pumps ~ Isaac Mizrahi for Target /  Crystal Watch ~ Kathy Van Zeeland}

Random Ramblings:

I placed quite the order with Forever21+ a couple of weeks ago, I am sucker for adorable items at reasonable prices.  I proclaimed this weekend that I am done with shopping... for now

I did my hair on Sunday. Loving the longer locks, though I will probably trim it some more and/or cut bangs.  I also plan on setting and rolling it with tiny roller, creating a tight curly look.  BIG, unruly, curly hair?  YES, please!

The weather has been so crazy lately, we are still patiently waiting for spring.  It is actually forecasted to snow on Saturday.  I am so ready to frolick in the sun, eat an amazing meal OUTSIDE while rocking shades and a bright mani/pedi.  I was made for warm weather.  After all, I was born in July, lol.  Bring on the HEAT!  And if anyone hears me complaining about how hot it is this summer, I give you permission to smack me. ;)

Weekend Stripes

March 23, 2011

{Jeggings ~ ASOS, my favorite bottoms in the entire world.  They fit like a glove, wash beautifully and go with everything! / Navy and White Tunic ~ J Crew, found on clearance - is actually a dress in size SMALL, but is more like a fitted tunic on me. ;) / Pink Pashmina ~ Collection 59, best investment ever in a scarf.  It is so soft and luxurious, I love it! / Lions head Necklace ~ Thrifted / Gold Crystal Bracelets ~ Kenneth J Lane and are Chamak by Priya Kkar / Gold Flats ~ Sam Eldman / Leather Handbag ~ Rachel Zoe for QVC / Gold Hoops ~ Beauty Supply / Sunglasses ~ Urban Outfitters}

This is a typical weekend outfit for me. Jeggings and flats with a fun top and accessories. Perfect.

I wore this on Sunday to have an early lunch with a girlfriend, ran a few errands and was back home in time to make Sunday dinner. :)  ...and felt fab while doing all of the above.

Sunday also happened to be the first day of spring and was such a beautiful day!  The sun was beaming, hence the need for my new favorite shades.

I could live in this outfit.  I am finally starting to embrace flats and now realize that they can be chic! And my ankles are thanking me.

Monochrome

March 21, 2011

{Gray Skinnies ~ Source of Wisdom via Torrid / Gray Sweatshirt ~ Olive and Oak via HauteLook / Gray Wedges ~ Jeffrey Campbell, old! from 2 years ago / Assorted Bangles and Silver Necklace ~ H&M}

Sometimes I can be so very random... hubby just thinks it's the funniest thing, hehehe!

It was so nice and warm on Friday, we were given the perfect spring tease. I came home from work, went straight inside, freshened up a bit, threw this monochromatic outfit on, chopped 3 inches off my hair {so over it}, met hubby around back as he finished washing  my car, quickly took pics, grabbed the kiddies and went and picked up dinner.  It felt good to ride around deciding what we were going to eat, with the sunroof open and the tunes blasting.

I love random nights like those. No real plan, just get in the car and GO!  We picked up a nice mix of goodies, came in and had dinner as a family.  I opened a nice cold bottle of White Merlot {ever had it? Seriously the best wine EVER} and popped in my favorite movie of all time, Pretty Woman.

Could not have been a better Friday night. :)

I hope you had a great weekend!

Kelly Green and Coral

March 18, 2011

{Black Pants ~ Forever 21 Plus / Kelly Green Satin Top ~ Simply Vera Wang / Coral Linen Blazer ~ Vintage.Thrifted / Lace-up Heels ~ Mossimo via Target / Gold Stretch Belt ~ Vintage.Thrifted / Black Speedy Paris Cube ~ LV / Black and Gold Crystal Watch ~ Kathy Van Zeeland}

Of course I had to wear green on St. Patrick's Day. ;)

I love this top, as soon as I went into my closet to grab something to put on, this caught my eye.  Pairing it with this bright coral blazer was a no-brainer.  The color blocking trend is really hot right now and I was excited to try it!

These heels from Target are so cute, but insanely painful to wear. ...until I snipped the stitches in the {at first, nonadjustable} lacing, pulled them apart and adjusted how tight they were. Aaaah. So much better!

I have been sufffering lately in the footwear department. Ouch! ...but cute shoes are a must and I don't mind the sacrifice. These are just too adorable not to wear, and I also plan to lace these babies with a thick ivory and/or black satin ribbon.  Yes! ;)

xoxo, thanks for reading and have a fantastic weekend!

Pink Nouveau

March 16, 2011

{Trousers ~ INC via Macy's / Layered Lace Top ~ Newport News / Pink Cardigan ~ Elle / Leopard Suede and Patent Pumps ~ Isaac Mizrahi for Target / Pearl Dangle Necklace ~ Vintage / White Leather and Rose Gold Watch ~ Gruen / Ruby Red Lightning MINX nails / Lipstick ~ MAC's Pink Nouveau}

Random ramblings:

Ivory lace has to be one of my favorite things to wear. {Don't I say that about a lot of things? HA!} Add pink and instantly, I feel super girly.  I went heavy on the bronzer yesterday.  A bright pink lip with shimmery bronzer is a must in my book.

I am pretty sure I am over these bangs; I wish I was brave enough to try a lighter color.  An auburn-ey red would be fun to try!  Who am I kidding, I would probably never. LOL!

The next hair change for me will definitely be a shorter 'do.  Perhaps a bob with bangs? Maybe not, I would hate to look like Dora The Explorer.  Maybe soft and pretty curls with shorter layers in the back... I think yes!  I do love the length though...so we shall see.

A Case of the Mondays

March 14, 2011

Fact about me: I hate Mondays.  Especially the Monday after Daylight Savings Time. I yawned 571 times today. I just could NOT snap out of it.  I know, I know - it was only an hour lost but I felt it.

Fact about Hubby: He loves Mondays.  It's his busiest day of the week at work and he loves the idea of a fresh start.

It never fails - I call him on Monday morning {on the way to work} in a bad mood, ready to whine, wishing I could have slept in and he answers the phone in a fantastic mood, sounding SO energized and ready for anything.

Which snaps me back to reality - there are a million and one things I should be smiling about. Yes, even on a Monday morning.

{High Waisted Silk Skirt ~ Thrifted / Black T- Shirt ~ Merona, via Target / Gray Tights ~ HUE / Lucite Necklace ~ Thrifted / Brown Sandals ~ MRKT / Men's Watch ~ Seiko}

 ...and after a JUMBO iced tea; read: CAFFEINE, my Monday gets even better... AND ... we get an extra hour of sunlight. :) Yay, doesn't that make you smile?

Like A Gypsy

March 10, 2011

{Maxi Skirt ~ Daisy Fuentes for Kohl's, last seen here / Black T Shirt ~ Merona, via Target / Long Cardigan ~ Thrifted, was a turtle neck sweater, but I snipped it, as I explained in this post / Leather Belt ~ An old belt from a leather trench coat / Black Suede Boots ~ ASOS / Lucite Bangle ~ Thrifted}

..........

I felt like a Gypsy in this outfit. I think it was the combination of the flowy maxi skirt and the longer length on the "cardigan".  I couldn't help but sashay as I walked.

In one breath, I exclaim how TIRED I am of wearing boots and sweaters, but then I throw on an outfit like this and am happy that I still get to wear these comfy suede boots.  Not to mention, I have more sweaters to dig out and magically turn into cardigans.

I will never ever get tired of this skirt.  And any other maxi dress / skirt, for that matter. Love 'em!  I seriously have to stop myself from grabbing this on the mornings when I don't feel like fussing with pants. Which happens often.  I mean, what is easier than pulling on a skirt? ;)

Also loving this new bright berry lipstick by Black Radiance.  It's called "Sexy Siren" and I sorta just bought it because of the name.  I am good for that; such a sucker for fun nail polish and lipstick names... what is wrong with me?! LOL
